Surgical Oncologist – Central Maine Medical Center (Lewiston, ME)
We are seeking a talented and experienced Surgical Oncologist to join our oncology services team, providing comprehensive surgical care for patients across southern and central Maine.
Responsibilities
Perform complex oncologic surgeries including but not limited to breast, colorectal, gastrointestinal, and upper gastrointestinal procedures.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists (medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, nursing) to coordinate patient care.
Provide thorough pre‑operative evaluation and post‑operative follow‑up, ensuring optimal outcomes.
Participate in tumor board meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives and participate in morbidity/mortality conferences.
Qualifications
Board‑eligible or board‑certified in General Surgery, with fellowship training in Surgical Oncology or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 3 years of post‑fellowship or equivalent clinical oncologic surgical experience.
Excellent clinical expertise and strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with specialists.
Willingness to work flexible schedules and days as required.
