Staff Data Engineer – Motive Software
Hybrid work: employees expected to be in one of our office hubs at least two days per week. US hubs: Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; Washington, DC. Europe hubs: London, UK; Amsterdam, NL.
Responsibilities
Architect, build, and maintain data systems that deliver end‑customer value.
Centralize and standardize data collection, transformation, analysis, storage, and serving.
Support ML / GenAI teams and functionality with platform capabilities for data delivery, processing, and infrastructure.
Support reporting and analytics teams to deliver internal and customer‑facing insights.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in a fast‑evolving tech ecosystem.
Operationally manage data infrastructure, vendors, tooling, and processes.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in data platform engineering, data infrastructure, or related technical roles.
Strong programming background (e.g., Python).
Operational maturity (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, monitoring, distributed systems, security and privacy best practices, etc.).
Experience building and maintaining analytics stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Looker).
Experience running GenAI / ML systems in production (e.g., MLOps tooling, vector search, embedding stores, feature engineering at scale, etc.).
Experience architecting data systems (e.g., Airflow, Kafka, general system design).

Salary: $208,000 – $286,000 for New York City and San Francisco; $187,000 – $257,000 for all other locations.
