Position Description The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis Health in Sacramento, California, seeks a full‑time Academic Plastic Surgeon specializing in Breast and Microsurgery. The role, based in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, focuses on breast microsurgery and reconstruction, orthoplastic lower extremity limb salvage, lymphatic surgery, and general reconstruction. The ideal candidate will have an interest in expanding a rapidly growing reconstructive microsurgery program. Microsurgery fellowship training is required.

The position is being recruited at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Health Science Clinical or Clinical X series. UC Davis is a large‑volume Level I Trauma Hospital with an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center and a Level I Children’s Surgical Center. The selected candidate will engage in teaching, practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery, and basic science/translational research related to reconstructive surgery and clinical outcomes.

Applicants will be appointed to the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical X or HSCP series depending on experience. Expectations differ: Clinical X applicants will engage in teaching, research, service and clinical work; HSCP applicants will focus on clinical work, teaching and supporting the department’s research mission.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications: M.D. degree; board certified or board eligible in Plastic Surgery; commitment to research activity; ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

Additional qualifications: Must acquire a CA Medical License before the appointment start date; Completed a fellowship in Microsurgery.

Preferred qualifications: Understanding of plastic and reconstructive surgery of patients with facial wounds, congenital deformities, breast reconstructive needs, microsurgery, and basic science/translational research trials related to reconstructive surgery and clinical outcomes.
