Position Overview Georgia State University is inviting applications for a teaching‑focused tenure‑track faculty position in Economics. The role is 80% instruction, 10% service, and 10% scholarship. Faculty members provide 27-32 semester credit hours per academic year, maintain a campus presence, and support student learning in both in‑person and virtual environments.

Responsibilities

Provide 27-32 semester hours of instruction per academic year.

Support students through advising and student support activities.

Maintain weekly office hours and maintain a campus presence.

Participate in service to department, college, and university.

Demonstrate commitment to early undergraduate teaching and learning in a diverse academic setting.

Qualifications

For Instructor: minimum Master’s degree in the discipline or 18 semester (27 quarter) graduate hours of relevant coursework.

For Assistant Professor: required Ph.D. by appointment or previously held associate professor rank for one academic year.

For Associate Professor: required Ph.D. and previously held associate professor rank for one academic year.

College teaching experience preferred; one year as a teaching assistant acceptable.

Experience teaching online and using a distance learning platform.

Interest in high‑impact educational practices, scholarship of teaching and learning, and other pedagogical initiatives that enhance student success.

Experience or interest in scholarship in the discipline and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.

Ph.D. in the teaching field preferred for instructor and assistant professor ranks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Effective teaching using a variety of methods and instructional technology.

Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied student population and facilitate learning in both in‑person and virtual settings.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong organizational, computer, and record‑keeping skills.

Collaboration with colleagues to achieve discipline, department, or college goals.

Pre‑Employment Requirements Criminal background check required.
