Summary Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Instructor to lead and implement the MLT program curriculum as a substitute faculty member. This role is responsible for delivering specialized instruction, ensuring student success, and supervising critical laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for students, including scheduled activities and materials.
Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon student needs and established curriculum.
Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually.
Monitor students in the laboratory; assist with lab procedures and ensure safety precautions are adhered to.
Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community field trips, and visits to MLT clinics.
Assist and advise students with Medical Laboratory Technician program curriculum.
Monitor attendance of students and prepare weekly attendance reports; coordinate with the Associate Director when absences occur two days in a row.
Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught and implement plans to reduce student withdrawals.
Maintain student grades and prepare final grades at the end of each semester to update student records.
May assist the Clinical Director in monitoring student’s clinical progress.
May assist with the inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment.

Working Conditions & Physical Tasks
Exposure to indoor classroom, specialized lab, and office environment. Contact with employees, students, and the public. Exposure to biohazardous materials such as blood and saliva is expected.
Requires hearing within normal range; ability to write, sort, separate, and file documents; lift up to 20 pounds.
May utilize office equipment (telephone, copier, computer) and specialized laboratory equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree from a regional or national accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
At least three (3) years of practical experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist.
Preferred: one (1) year of instructor experience in a related field.
Must hold credential from a nationally recognized and accredited agency as a medical laboratory technician or technologist.
Current license, certification, or other designation as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the field.
Must demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in content areas; strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and computer skills.
