About the Position Long Beach Community College District is seeking one (1) full‑time tenure anatomy professor to commence with the Fall 2026 semester.

The assignment includes curriculum development, participation in shared governance, committee work, and student activities.

Teaching may occur at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trades, Technology & Community Learning campus, or other campus locations, and may involve day, evening, weekend, online, or off‑campus sessions.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Master’s in any biological science, or

Bachelor’s in any biological science AND a Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science (or the equivalent).

Local Equivalency Standard

Master’s or doctoral degree in any related discipline, including 18 upper‑division or graduate hours in biological sciences.

Or a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field with at least 18 graduate units beyond the Bachelor’s in a related area and minimum five years full‑time equivalent professional work in biology or a related field.

Applicants who do not meet the statewide minimum qualifications verbatim must submit a supplemental equivalency application.

All Candidates Must Demonstrate Evidence of sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment and effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications

Educational and/or instructional preparation in anatomy.

At least 2 years of recent experience teaching anatomy to college students, especially at a community college.

Ability to adapt to learning styles and needs of diverse student populations.

Use of diverse teaching strategies and technologies that encourage retention and challenging diverse student populations.

Evidence of developing laboratory curriculum with computer technology delivery and hands‑on experience.

Active participation in departmental, divisional, and college committees and participatory governance.

Leadership experience within the department and institution.

Commitment to the mission and strategic objectives of Long Beach City College.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Experience with student learning outcomes and their assessment.

Ability to teach at the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) and/or the Trade, Technology, and Community Learning (TTC) campus.
