Java Development Lead – Contract to Hire

Naperville, IL (Hybrid: in‑office and remote)

Experience Level Expert level – Mid‑Senior to Senior
Core Responsibilities • Lead architecture and design for Java‑based applications. • Integrate new applications into existing cloud infrastructure (AWS). • Develop and maintain RESTful services, API gateways, and event‑driven integrations (Kafka, gRPC, GraphQL). • Implement containerized microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. • Mentor and coach mid‑level developers on Java 8+, Spring Boot, Hibernate, SQL, and best practices.
Key Qualifications • 10+ years of enterprise Java development. • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway), Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, Kafka, gRPC, GraphQL, CI/CD, and Docker/K8s deployment. • Strong experience with RESTful APIs, API integration, and cloud infrastructure. • AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Developer) preferred. • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a hybrid environment.
Pay & Benefits Pay range: $65.00 – $80.00 per hour. Benefits for the temporary role (if eligible): Medical, dental & vision, critical illness, accident & hospital, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short/long‑term disability, HSA, transportation, PTO, and employee assistance program.
