The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) offers advanced outpatient surgery, allowing patients to return home soon after their procedures without the need for overnight stays. This position is part of the Marymount ASC, working with Cleveland Clinic Sport Health Medicine/Orthopedic and Plastics teams. We support the mission of caring for life, participate in research activities, and promote education for our caregivers.
Surgical Technologists, sometimes called “scrub techs,” assist with procedures under the supervision of surgeons and RNs, helping ensure quality patient care before, during and after the operative procedure. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks, such as checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, passing instruments to the surgeon, and sterilizing instruments after procedures.
A caregiver in this position works days between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with the ability to float to Marymount Hospital.
Responsibilities
Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available.
Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery.
Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team throughout the procedure.
Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.”
Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give specimens to circulator for disposition.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CCAAHEP or ABHES OR Certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C or CST) OR completion of a military Surgical Technology Program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
Preferred Qualifications
Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
Orthopaedic experience.
Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds; ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing more than 75 pounds periodically.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Medium Work – exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demands exceed those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $25.25
Maximum hourly: $34.15
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking into consideration factors such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
