We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent with a proven track record in commercial ground-up construction projects. National travel is a key aspect of this role. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing general contracting company known for delivering high-quality projects, building strong customer relationships, and developing talented teams.
Role Overview The Superintendent is responsible for directing on-site project operations to ensure alignment with project schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations. Working closely with the project management team, the Superintendent ensures that project objectives are met while fostering operational excellence. This includes managing subcontractors, communicating project priorities, and serving as the primary on-site leader. Extended travel away from home is required.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee total construction efforts, ensuring compliance with design, budget, and schedule.
Serve as the primary liaison with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
Develop project plans, secure commitments from trade partners, and ensure adherence to schedules.
Resolve construction challenges such as productivity issues or work interface conflicts.
Support labor relations efforts, including union communications and manpower requisitions.
Assist in developing and implementing project procedures, standards, and documentation.
Provide clear and professional communication with all stakeholders, including written and verbal reports.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with project procedures and work rules.
Monitor trade productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance.
Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs and progress reports, using project management software.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely provision of materials, equipment, and inspections.
Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
5+ years of technical training and/or experience in commercial construction.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience with ground-up commercial construction projects.
Experience in Healthcare, Hospitality, Restaurant, or Retail construction preferred.
Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic understanding of Lean Building principles is a plus.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to supervise large teams and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and jurisdictional requirements.
Must be able to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
Standing for extended periods.
Walking long distances on job sites, including uneven terrain.
Crawling under structures for inspections or troubleshooting.
Climbing ladders, scaffolding, or other structures.
Lifting materials or equipment up to 35 pounds.
