The University Advancement is seeking (1) Assistant Director, Development (Working Title: Donor Experience Officer) to join the already incredible team taking Georgia State University to the next level of excellence!

WHAT YOU WILL DO Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development for the university-wide cohort, the Donor Experience Officer (DXO) will focus on qualifying and soliciting leadership annual giving prospects ($1,000-$10,000) for the following units: the College of Arts & Sciences and the College of the Arts.

As we gear up for the next campaign, this position will help fill the gap in the donor pipeline and serve the need to grow and expand the donor base. The DXO will achieve this by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors through various mediums, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, texting, social media, mail, video conferencing and email.

Through the DXO program, this position will work closely with the central Annual Giving department and DXOs in other cohorts to ensure all donor experience strategies are executed properly. The DXO will also collaborate with the Annual Giving team to utilize existing central technologies that assist outreach efforts. The two primary goals of this position are to assist with donor pipeline development and identify major gift leads for development officers.

JOB DUTIES SOLICITATION AND QUALIFICATION

Manage a portfolio of approximately 500 current, lapsed, and prospective leadership annual giving donors for the university-wide cohort.

Cultivate relationships with these donors via phone, email, texting, LinkedIn, mail, Zoom, ThankView, local in-person meetings, and other industry communication tactics.

Solicit donors to make new gifts, renew or upgrade their contributions, focusing on securing gifts in the $1,000-$10,000 range. Conducts 10-15 face-to-face or virtual visits per month, consistently raising $450K-$749K per year.

Appropriately steward closed gifts and promote philanthropic opportunities, such as college giving priorities from the university-wide cohort, crowdfunding projects, and Georgia State Day.

Collaborate with Prospect Management and Research to update, adjust, and maintain the donor portfolio.

Actively solicit, cultivate, qualify (or disqualify) major gift donors and hand off prospects based on their interests, capacity, and propensity.

Identify new sources of support for individual giving and strategically move donors up to major gift levels. Actively hand off prospects to major gift officers based on the donor’s interests, capacity, and propensity.

Ensure effective prospect tracking, record keeping, and reporting aligned with the metrics and reporting guidelines from University Advancement.

LIASON TO SPECIAL AUDIENCES

Collaborate with unit partners to identify, qualify, and solicit prospects for special projects as assigned.

Hold regular meetings with development officers to discuss strategy and overall goals.

Research industry standards, trends, and breakthroughs to implement best practices.

Work closely with additional Donor Experience Officers, the Senior DXO, and Annual Giving partners to ensure all technology and strategies associated with DX are executed properly.

Stewardship

Coordinate and assist donor stewardship programs for leadership annual giving prospects.

Ensure that donors receive proper recognition and documentation for their gifts.

Draft correspondence to donors and prospects.

Other

Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.

Individuals will also be required to work some nights and weekends, when necessary, travel (via plane, train, or car) at least 15% of the time within and outside of the state of Georgia.

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS

Bachelor's Degree and one year of experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be givento candidates with experienceworking with donors.

Knowledge of theSalesforceapplication softwareUCI Ascend.
