Description Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a
Child & Adolescent Consulting Psychiatrist
to the team at
NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan . The Department of Psychiatry is at the forefront of providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health services in a dynamic and diverse urban setting.
We serve a vibrant community in New York City, offering a wide range of psychiatric services to individuals and families from all backgrounds across our 4‑adult inpatient psychiatric units, 1 adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit, our psychiatric emergency department, substance use disorder services, and robust adult and child ambulatory programs that deliver in‑person and telehealth services. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to innovation and excellence, providing a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities Reporting to the Medical Director of Adult Ambulatory Behavioral Health Services in The Office of Ambulatory Care, and the Directors of Psychiatry at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, the Child & Adolescent Consulting Psychiatrist will support behavioral healthcare in primary care clinics using the Collaborative Care model.
Rotate among different facilities providing Consulting Psychiatry support to primary care teams (e.g., PCPs, Collaborative Care social workers, and nurses).
Provide weekly caseload consultation to the Collaborative Care Clinicians focused primarily on patients who are new to the caseload or who are not improving as expected under current treatment plan.
Work with Collaborative Care Clinicians to oversee the status and population health of their assigned patient caseload; assist in prioritizing patients for case review and treatment adjustment.
Recommend treatment adjustments through the case review process or in ad hoc consultations, including medication recommendations and other interventions.
Document treatment recommendations, as needed, in the medical record.
Advise on treatment for patients who may need more intensive or specialized mental health care, supporting treatment in the medical setting until patient can be engaged in specialty care.
Be available to provide ad hoc telephone consultation to medical providers for complex patients or challenging patient situations.
Provide direct evaluation and ongoing treatment support for patients with significant diagnostic or therapeutic challenges identified in discussion with the Collaborative Care Clinician and/or primary care provider, documenting appropriately in the medical record.
Develop and deliver in‑service training for primary care providers and staff.
Assist primary care clinics on workflow management and practice transformation toward a Collaborative Care model.
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical or osteopathy school.
Completion of an ACGME accredited psychiatry residency program.
Board certified or eligible in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
NYS License and DEA Certificate.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
Able to quickly synthesize medical and psychiatric data and formulate effective, evidence‑based clinical recommendations.
Compensation & Benefits Wages and Benefits include:
Annual base salary: $266,200*(board eligible); $276,500*(board certified) based on a 40‑hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $436,820** (board eligible) and $448,150** (board certified) , which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:
Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours per week is $104,000***.
Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year's average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
401(k) company contribution (subject to IRS limits):
Immediately vested 3% of base earnings; no employee match.
After one year, additional 7% of base earnings; no match.
Annual CME reimbursement.
Generous PTO: vacation, sick, holiday, and CME days.
Medical, prescription, and dental coverage: top‑tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
Life insurance and AD&D coverage: equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) provided at no cost. Additional voluntary life and AD&D coverage available.
