Senior Manager, Autonomous Vehicle Strategy & Planning - Flexdrive

Lyft is seeking a talented and proven leader to join our AV team as we transform from traditional rideshare to autonomous vehicle operations. This role will work closely with our Flexdrive subsidiary at the intersection of business strategy, financial modeling, and performance optimization as we deploy and scale AV partnerships across our existing 14,000+ vehicle fleet spanning 24+ North American markets and expand into Europe. The successful candidate will excel at building financial models, creating projections, and delivering data-driven insights to influence internal stakeholders and external partners including Waymo, Baidu, May Mobility, and Mobileye.

Responsibilities:
Business Modeling & Forecasting
Design and build complex financial models to forecast business performance and analyze key metrics related to our AV fleet deployments and 90-92% utilization targets
Support company-wide planning including Long Range Planning (LRP) workstreams, creating short-term and long-term projections, scenario analyses, and financial dashboards
Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure models align with Flexdrive's multi-spectrum AV ownership approach
Strategic Business Communication
Prepare and deliver reports on financial and operational performance to the Flexdrive CEO, Lyft leadership, and external AV partners, translating data into strategic recommendations
Build and present business cases for AV deployment strategies, depot construction, charging infrastructure, and market expansion initiatives
Make the case for investment decisions based on fleet utilization metrics, repair vs. sell (RvS) models, and partnership economics
Data Analysis & Strategy Refinement
Conduct in-depth analyses of fleet performance data to identify opportunities for growth and operational efficiencies across our North American and European markets
Collaborate with product, operations, and finance teams to refine business strategies for AV integration and traditional fleet optimization
Monitor and interpret AV industry trends, competitive dynamics, and partnership opportunities to inform Flexdrive's strategic positioning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Lyft's Strategy, Financial Planning and Analysis, Investor Relations, Product, and Operations teams to support key AV initiatives
Work closely with fleet operations teams to streamline workflows, improve fleet utilization, and enhance reporting capabilities
Act as a trusted advisor to the Flexdrive CEO on financial and operational matters, helping drive data-driven decisions across the organization
Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus
7+ years of experience in business operations, finance, or similar analytical role, ideally within high-growth tech or fleet management environments
Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis, with strong command of Excel, SQL, and data visualization software
Excellent communication skills with proven ability to translate complex financial concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrated experience working with senior leaders and external partners to drive business outcomes
Strong analytical mindset with focus on detail, accuracy, and strategic thinking
Preferred:
3+ years prior experience with Autonomous Vehicles
Experience with fleet management, asset utilization models, or mobility operations
Knowledge of European mobility markets and regulatory environments
Experience with tax compliance systems (Vertex) and fleet financial systems

Note:
For this role, candidates must reside in states registered for Flexdrive Services LLC. Flexdrive highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week, including on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Flexdrive considers working in the office at least 3 days per week to be an essential function of this hybrid role. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $156,000 – $195,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
