I. Major Responsibilities
1. Assesses and obtains a patient’s basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.
2. Administers medications, performs treatment as ordered, and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.
3. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12‑lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
4. Participates in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short‑term goals, nursing actions, and teaching.
5. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or RN and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.
II. Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education
1. Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
2. Current Massachusetts licensure required.
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience/Skills
1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
2. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
3. Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
