Where you will work The Lewiston mill is the original Clearwater Paper manufacturing facility, producing paperboard product, and boasting over 700 talented employees. Approximately two hours away from Clearwater Paper's headquarters in Spokane, Washington, the Lewiston paper mill is a key component in Clearwater Paper's business strategy.

What you will do The Senior Project Engineer will provide engineering services to develop and implement capital projects. Assists operations and maintenance with technical analyses and designs to improve existing processes and equipment. Manages project work to maintain compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Project & Operations Support

Provides technical assistance to production, reliability and quality groups as needed to solve facility problems and develops methods to improve processes

Optimize manufacturing and facility processes by investigating and eliminating root causes of asset failures

Develops site's 5‑year CapEx plan for facility related projects (sewers, fire lines, structural, railway, elevators, roadways, etc)

Manage all phases of assigned capital projects including:

Developing project justification, scope, and subsequent writing of AFCE's

Evaluation and selection of equipment suppliers and installation contractors

Equipment checkout and subsequent installation

Complete project documentation

Reliability

Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts

Investigates and analyses relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards

Analyses preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives

As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability

Maintenance and Operational Assistance

Provide technical assistance to facility problems.

Research options and recommend solutions to resolve operating and/or maintenance issues

Coordinate contractor's activities for contracted‑out maintenance work during equipment downtimes

Provide engineering calculations and design drawings for equipment installed by maintenance crews

Perform maintenance call‑duty. Call out and supervise maintenance crews as required. Communicate environmental/safety issues to management as required

Leadership

Assist in the management of the Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs including vibration coverage through the mill, plant tank integrity, pressure vessel integrity, and pre‑post failure reports

Manages capital projects as required

What you will need

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required

5+ years of experience in project or reliability engineering, maintenance, or operations in the paper industry required

Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel

AutoCAD experience preferred

Demonstrated ability to effectively work with vendors, managers, and production employees to achieve goals

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Capable of managing Process Safety Management programs

Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of construction and repair codes (ASME, API, NBIC, NEC etc.)

Knowledgeable with maintenance best practices (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.) preferred

Must be capable of understanding and troubleshooting complex industrial systems and equipment

Understanding of LEAN manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) concepts preferred

Professional Engineering license preferred

Basic knowledge of corrosion effects and metallurgy preferred

High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces

Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment

Dirt, noise, odor, and temperature extremes

Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding

Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process
