Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant: Lead and complete complex bank and balance sheet reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
Own key components of the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting
Review and perform payroll allocations using advanced Excel functionality
Analyze accounts, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions
Ensure accurate coding of invoices, expenses, and financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies
Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits
Assist with process improvements and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications of the Senior Accountant: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
Previous nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas)
Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
Proven ability to analyze large data sets and identify discrepancies
Highly organized self-starter with strong time-management and communication skills
