Job Description:
Pacific American University School of Law (PAUSL), a California registered unaccredited correspondence law school currently in the final stages of registration with the California Bar, invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean.
The Dean will serve as the Chief Academic Officer of PAUSL, providing visionary and strategic leadership to guide the institution through its next phase of growth. This is a pivotal opportunity for a dynamic leader to shape the future of a law school dedicated to expanding access to legal education through flexible, correspondence-based pathways.
Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience serving as Dean at a law school. PAUSL is in the final stages of registration with the California Bar and is expected to commence classes in September 2026. Preparations for operations are anticipated to begin in May or June 2026.

Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school (or equivalent).
- Distinguished record in legal education, practice, or scholarship.
- Leadership experience in higher education, preferably with online learning.
- Strong skills in strategic planning, fundraising, and community engagement.
Additional Information:
Job Type: Full-time at-will employment Monday through Friday, with some evenings and weekends as required. Benefits include fourteen (14) paid leave days each year, accrued over the course of the year plus five (5) U.S. holidays (Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, and Memorial Day). After three years of service an additional four paid leave days are added. Parking is provided. Professional development is offered including paid membership in key organizations. Health insurance is provided up to half.
Work Environment: Our school operates as a correspondence law school, where student visits are extremely rare and the office environment is primarily centered around staff interactions. Located in the Equitable Building—a landmark in Koreatown—our campus offers a pleasant space near public transportation and vibrant restaurants. Standard office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

- Visionary Leadership and Strategic Planning – Articulate and implement a compelling vision that elevates PAUSL’s reputation and impact; lead strategic planning initiatives and foster broad participation to achieve institutional goals.
- Financial Stewardship and Resource Development – Manage budgets responsibly, pursue innovative revenue opportunities, and strengthen fundraising efforts to support long‑term growth.
- Academic Excellence and Faculty Development – Attract and retain distinguished faculty; conduct reviews and evaluations to strengthen current faculty capabilities.
- Regulatory Compliance and Student Success – Oversee adherence to California law school registration requirements and champion student achievement within PAUSL’s correspondence‑based JD program.
- Community Building and Staff Engagement – Cultivate a collegial and inclusive environment that values communication, respect, and collaboration; support faculty and staff well‑being and professional growth.
- Innovation and Technology Integration – Advance PAUSL’s leadership at the intersection of law and technology, preparing students to understand the evolving role of technology in legal practice.
- Student Advocacy and Educational Support – Promote a vibrant and diverse student experience by expanding clinical and experiential learning opportunities; build ties with employers to help students adapt to the legal profession.
- External Relations and Public Service – Strengthen alumni engagement, deepen connections with the local community, and broaden PAUSL’s external partnerships to enhance visibility and influence.
