Job Title: Manufacturing Technician

The Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for owning the Company's blanking process, including setting up, maintaining tooling, programming, troubleshooting, general process improvement, and material handling. This role will primarily operate the Swiss CNC machines and develop an intimate knowledge of the Company's grinding process and assist with troubleshooting and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC Swiss machines (e.g., Tornos, Citizen, Star, Tsugami) to produce precision components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor production runs for quality and consistency, making adjustments as needed.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with engineering or maintenance teams to resolve problems.
  • Maintain accurate production records and adhere to safety and quality standards.
  • Develop intimate knowledge of Centerless Grinding process and put knowledge to test in troubleshooting and research environments.
  • Work directly with production managers and floor leads to train, troubleshoot, etc.
  • As needed follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties, projects as requested by Manager.
  • Requirements / Background:

    • HS Diploma required, preferably from a trade or technical school.
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and databases.
    • 1+ years' experience with CNC part process optimization (reducing cycle time and optimized setting for tool wear), specific experience with TORNOS CNC's preferred.
    • Knowledge of Swiss cutting tools, vendors and inserts.
    • 1+ years' experience with precision measurement equipment.
    • Experience with or general working knowledge of centerless grinding preferred.

    Skills, Traits and Competencies:

    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage prioritization of duties.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Proficient when responding to inquiries.
    • Diligent with details and high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to problem solve and consciously looking toward continuous improvement in role.
    • Visual Acuity: Near acuity, with or without, accommodation is required for reading machine dial gauges, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of equipment.
    • Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
