Job Summary The Business Intelligence Analyst collaborates across the organization to identify key datasets, develop SQL‑based views, understand data relationships, and build reports that enhance operational efficiency, provide market insights and support financial or strategic planning. This role builds and enhances data products for multiple departments outside of IT, while communicating complex data & analytics concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities Data Analysis & Reporting
Collect, analyze, and interpret data sets related to oil & natural gas production, transportation, storage, and sales.
Develop and maintain reports and automations using SQL and BI tools (e.g., DBeaver, SQL Server Management Studio, Power BI, Spotfire).
Business Collaboration
Partner with business stakeholders to understand data needs, translate questions into analytical solutions, and recommend data‑driven strategies.
Work with cross‑functional teams (operations, engineering, accounting, commercial) to model the impact of scenarios on production, pricing, and logistics.
Data Quality & Governance
Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or errors and collaborate with IT teams to resolve issues.
Assist in developing and enforcing data governance policies and standards.
Continuous Improvement
Drive process improvements in workflows.
Stay up to date on data and analysis technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
Recommend innovative approaches to leverage data for operational and strategic advantage.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Understanding of oil & natural gas industry standards.
Proficiency with data tools such as DBeaver, Power BI, Spotfire, and Excel.
Strong SQL skills for extraction, transformation, and analysis.
Knowledge of data modeling concepts and database design principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams).
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Advanced interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related role, preferably in the energy, utilities, or oil & natural gas industry.
Experience working with large datasets, relational databases (SQL), and cloud‑based data platforms.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
Position location is Denver, Colorado. In‑office 2 days per week on average; remote work is available.
Indoor working environment that requires the ability to perform repetitive motions and operate standard office equipment.
May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise while sharing office space with others.
ANNUAL SALARY
$74,000 to $122,000
