Position Summary The Procedural Technician in any area performs the necessary technical duties that assist physicians and nurses in providing patient care according to SGNA or AWHONN standards. In the Reprocessing Room, performs technical procedures in the reprocessing and maintenance of equipment per manufacturer instructions (IFU’s).

Major Responsibilities

Provides assistance in proper patient positioning per guidelines.

Provides patient comfort during procedures.

Collects specimens and hands off to the circulating nurse with appropriate labeling.

Handles procedural equipment safely per procedure or policy; reports malfunctions.

Reprocesses and maintains equipment per infection control standards.

Assists the provider during procedures as directed.

Responds calmly and immediately in emergency situations.

Makes fiscally responsible actions with patient care needs, supplies, and equipment.

Complies with all department and hospital policies.

Participates in and completes all relevant training requirements.

Works or takes weekend, holiday, or overnight call as required.

Meets established productivity standards.

Facilitates sharing of knowledge and content throughout departments.

Takes responsibility for ensuring work outcomes satisfy UMass Memorial Health System True North.

Supports the mission, vision, and goals of HealthAlliance‑Clinton Hospital and serves as a role model for CARES values.

Adheres to change‑control processes.

Participates in cross‑training to optimize department resources.

Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education

Required: High school diploma

Experience/Skills

Required: Knowledge of medical terminology.

Required: Knowledge of procedural equipment and instrumentation function (preferred).

Required: Strong attention to detail.

Required: Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English.

Preferred: Prior experience in a procedural unit or similar environment.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions \>Work is considered sedentary; the position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
