Compassus
Position Summary
This position oversees intake operations for designated agencies or regions, ensuring seamless referral intake processes, compliance, and timely patient onboarding. The Director serves as the link between referral sources, intake teams, and clinical and operational teams, supporting both operational excellence and outstanding patient experiences. This role encompasses leadership, training, and continuous improvement while aligning intake operations with strategic organizational goals.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Manage intake operations for assigned regions/agencies, ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient referral processing.
Lead, train, and mentor intake staff and team leads, fostering a culture of productivity, collaboration, and exceptional customer service.
Monitor throughput metrics, identify trends, evaluate workflows, and recommend process improvements.
Implement operational best practices to enhance intake efficiency and team performance while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and payer guidelines.
Collaborate with senior management, clinical staff, and cross‑functional teams to streamline intake workflows and optimize patient transitions.
Communicate and execute policies that promote consistency and quality across intake departments.
Facilitate cross‑departmental teamwork to resolve barriers to care and proactively address referral challenges.
Conduct audits to evaluate adherence to regulatory requirements, documentation accuracy, and operational consistency.
Act as an escalation point for intake‑related concerns, providing strategic solutions and maintaining timely service levels for patients and referral sources.
Utilize data insights to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for intake teams, drive accountability for goals, and report progress to senior leadership.
Balance resource allocation and workforce planning to accommodate fluctuating referral demands while maintaining service level expectations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives that align intake operations with organizational objectives and patient satisfaction goals.
Foster a culture of performance excellence, continuous learning, and innovation within intake teams.

Education and/or Experience
Required – Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field.
Preferred – Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field.
Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in home health, hospice, or healthcare intake and referral roles.
Proven leadership experience managing intake teams and improving operational efficiencies.
Experience with healthcare technology platforms and electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.
Preferred – Home Care and/or Home Base work experience.
Skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy. Proficient understanding of home health referral processes, payer requirements, and regulatory standards. Ability to lead teams and navigate complex intake challenges. Strong analytical abilities to evaluate workflows and implement improvements effectively.
Physical Demands and Work Environment The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions.
