Role Overview Echodyne is seeking a Component Engineer II to support the development and sustainment of high-performance electronic assemblies that power our breakthrough radar products. You will work closely with our Lead Component Engineer and multidisciplinary design teams to qualify components, manage lifecycle health, and ensure our designs are robust, manufacturable, and supply-chain ready. As a Component Engineer II, you will contribute directly to our ability to bring new designs to market, sustain released hardware, and navigate the fast-changing electronics supply chain.
Responsibilities
Support the selection, evaluation, and documentation of electronic components for new and existing radar designs
Review datasheets, parametric data, and supplier documentation to validate compliance against design requirements
Support environmental & material compliance (including but not limited to RoHS/REACH)
Contribute to cost and availability aware component tradeoffs
Support component-level trade studies to assess performance, reliability, availability, and lifecycle status
Assist with lifecycle/PCN/EOL reviews and alternate identification
Create and maintain component records, schematic symbols, footprints, 3D models, and metadata in the company ECAD/PLM ecosystem
Support BOM reviews for new designs, ECOs, and sustaining updates
Flag lifecycle risks, specification gaps, and questionable components early in the development process
Participate in evaluation of supplier data, qualification results, and component performance notes
Support failure analysis for component related issues
Required Skills / Experience
Experience working with electronic components used in mixed-signal, digital, analog, and power-related circuit designs
Ability to interpret datasheets, evaluate component suitability, and identify key performance and reliability parameters
Hands‑on experience with ECAD environments (Altium preferred; Cadence/Mentor acceptable)
Experience creating footprints, schematic symbols, and ECAD library items
Familiarity with PLM environments (Arena, Agile, or similar)
Strong attention to detail, documentation rigor, and process discipline
Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, suppliers, and cross‑function teams
Desired Skills / Experience
Experience supporting prototype builds and interacting with PCB manufacturers or assembly vendors
Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes as they relate to component selection and footprint design
Familiarity with RF, high‑speed digital, or power component considerations
Experience creating inspection or qualification plans for electronic componentsExposure to component lifecycle management and supply‑chain risk evaluation
Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
2–4 years or more of experience in component engineering, hardware development, electronics manufacturing, or related discipline
Eligibility to handle export‑controlled information (ITAR/EAR)
Echodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export‑controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations. What We Offer The pay range for this position is $101,000 - $151,300 annually.
