Job Description The
UF Blueberry Breeding and Genomics Lab
is currently seeking highly motivated individuals to assist the Blueberry Breeding Program with basic molecular work and field activities related to the program.
These activities will take place in both the molecular lab and our field trial locations starting January 2026 until May 2026, with the possibility of extending the position upon performance.
Responsibilities
Be available to work in 8-hour shifts
Weekdays 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Conduct basic molecular work, such as DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and gene cloning
Work outdoors in various weather conditions
Assist with the collection of field samples and breeding seasonal work
Load and unload field sample equipment and coolers from the truck bed
Collect and document data accurately
Be flexible with sudden changes to the schedule
Expected Salary $14.00 - $16.00/hour commensurate with education and experience
Required Qualifications
Ability to perform job responsibilities with satisfactory proficiency
Commitment to the time requirements of this position
Available from now through the upcoming blueberry season (early March to end of May)
No bee or bug allergies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in molecular lab and field work
