As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Equities Electronic Trading Team, you work to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market‑leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, applying deep technical expertise and problem‑solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges across multiple technologies and applications.

Job Responsibilities

Provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.

Partners closely with research and trading teams to build and support an integrated alpha research and back‑testing platform.

Designs and builds robust tools and frameworks to support quantitative research and production trading.

Builds and supports critical research infrastructure (e.g., back‑testing frameworks, strategy containers, high‑performance and scalable simulation environments, feature and strategy signal stores).

Develops interfaces and integration points between Python research environments and Java‑based execution systems.

Builds and supports research and trading analytics libraries (e.g., mark‑outs, strategy analytics).

Serves as a function‑wide subject‑matter expert in one or more areas of focus.

Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm‑wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.

Influences peers and project decision‑makers to consider the use and application of leading‑edge technologies.

Adds to the team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.

Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.

Advanced expertise in Python, including scientific & dataset libraries such as pandas and numpy.

Design and implementation experience for front‑office systems for quantitative trading.

Knowledge of data pipelines, market data processing, and back‑testing workflows.

Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in‑depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines.

Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight; in‑depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.

Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods; proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.

Academic background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Knowledge of machine learning, statistical techniques, and related libraries.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Advanced knowledge of Java or C++.

Practical cloud experience.

Knowledge and experience in FIX, Market Data, Analytics, OMS, and equities trading in global markets.

Experience with KDB/Q and shell scripting.
