Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment. Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction. To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment.
Utilizes the AIDET principle to communicate with others, with a focus on patients and their families. Acknowledge, Introduce, Explain, Duration, Thank.
Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary puncture.
Appropriately processes and prepares all specimens received in the Laboratory: body fluids, pathology specimens, microbiology specimens, blood, urine (random/24 hour).
Reviews uncollected lists, cancels and/or reflexes tests appropriately using the computer system.
Employs proper steps to take action with computer and/or printer problems, troubleshoots and identifies issues.
Stocks supplies and checks incoming supply orders, maintains a clean and organized stocking area, and rotates stock.
Requirements
Phlebotomist: CA CPT Certification.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Preferred
2 years acute care experience (or similar work setting).
Driver's License: CA, upon hire.
Auto Insurance, upon hire.

Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.
Pay Range $36.27 – $40.78 /hour
