Job Overview The Food & Beverage Manager (“Gerente de Alimentos y Bebidas”) will lead and inspire the team to drive the growth and success of Bianchi, our new signature restaurant, with a strong focus on hospitality and guest satisfaction. This role oversees the daily operations of the restaurant and bar, ensures exceptional service, product quality, consistency, and a safe, positive work environment that aligns with ownership’s expectations. In addition to managing Bianchi, the manager supports food and beverage operations across the hotel—including Restaurants, Bar, In‑Room Dining, and Coffee Shop—and contributes to the coordination of special events.

Referral bonus : Earn $1,000 for Culinary, Engineering, Housekeeping, and $350 for all other roles for each hired referral at any Evans Hotels property.

Essential Duties

Oversee daily restaurant and bar operations focusing on team leadership, service excellence, and adherence to Evans Hotels standards and procedures.

Spend 70–80% of time on the floor, supporting and guiding team members throughout the Food & Beverage operation.

Supervise, train, and evaluate FOH staff through coaching, vendor training, and regular performance reviews.

Conduct regular staff testing and schedule trainings with vendors and industry professionals.

Recruit and hire top talent by understanding staffing needs, conducting interviews, and actively seeking potential candidates.

Develop and manage FOH schedules based on business needs, ensuring timely posting, compliance with labor regulations, and proper break management.

Resolve guest issues through gracious recovery techniques and by modeling warm hospitality.

Engage with guests during every shift and ensure all interactions are professional, gracious, and aligned with service standards.

Lead daily pre‑shift lineups and co‑lead weekly management meetings to communicate goals, review reservations, and address key priorities.

Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and senior leadership on menu development, recipe testing, and maintaining food and beverage quality.

Maintain in‑depth menu knowledge and ensure attention to detail in plate presentation.

Conduct regular inventories of beverage, merchandise, small wares, and food to maintain accurate par levels and cost control.

Track weekly covers, analyze guest capture (local/hotel), and conduct daily reviews of voids, comps, and invoices to support financial performance.

Implement and uphold financial controls to meet budgeted goals; accurately manage payroll and scheduling outliers.

Maintain exceptional cleanliness, sanitation, and organization; lead weekly/monthly cleaning and maintenance walk‑throughs with task follow‑up.

Create and maintain a PM calendar and a comprehensive Safety Program.

Ensure Ecosure and California Department of Health standards are met or exceeded—an “A” grade is expected and non‑negotiable.

Research and apply current spirits, wine, and beer trends to keep the beverage menu relevant and cost‑effective.

Handle all administrative tasks including timely email responses, calendar management, and prompt sending of meeting invites.

Submit payroll accurately and manage cash handling and credit card procedures in accordance with policy.

Continuously seek creative solutions to operational challenges and contribute positively to the guest and team experience.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.

Qualifications

At least 2–4 years of relevant experience and/or training.

A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.

Previous similar position in a multi‑unit restaurant setting or hotel is preferred.

Experience running a shift, scheduling, performance management, problem‑solving, running day‑to‑day operations, hospitality & customer service skills.

Availability for closing shifts at least five nights per week, including weekends and holidays, is required.

Experience with POS systems (MICROS, Aloha, or similar), OpenTable, and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.

Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire. Evans Hotels will provide this training and is to be completed at the company’s expense.

RBS Certification required.

Must have an unexpired and valid driver’s license with no recent violations.

Ability to exemplify and always lead with a friendly, professional, team‑oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.

Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 50 lbs.

The position will be filled in accordance with the processes set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
