Pay Range Base pay: $24.00/hr - $27.00/hr
Citarella is a family‑run business that started as a NYC fish market and now operates across New York City, the Hamptons, and Greenwich, CT. We offer fresh seafood, premium meats, chef‑prepared specialties, pastries, cheeses, and more.
Role and Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of the cashier department, ensuring department profitability and delivering an exceptional shopping experience.
Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures, including proper handling of all transactions.
Always retain possession of the register key during all transactions that require key authorization.
Take responsibility for all key‑holder transactions such as voids, refunds, associate discounts.
Observe and verify all transaction overrides for accuracy.
Communicate issues to store management promptly.
Identify front‑end associate discrepancies and report them immediately.
Train and supervise front‑end associates on policies and procedures.
Maintain a professional environment for customers and associates.
Schedule coverage for the front end, including daily break coverage.
Keep the front‑end area neat, clean, organized, and safe.
Handle returns and credits according to company procedures.
Perform any duties assigned by the Manager on Duty.
Drive guest engagement programs to exceed the Ultimate Gourmet Experience.
Handle guest relations professionally, including service recovery when needed.
Supervise front‑end activities: monitor guest traffic, service level, cleanliness, inventory, and supplies.
Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of department/store associates.
Monitor overall department performance and recommend corrective actions to management.
Drive results through motivation, team building, and follow‑up.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience managing a front‑end/cashier department in a grocery store environment.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical stamina to stand, kneel, stoop, use stairs, and lift/tug items 20–50 pounds.
Ability to work in a temperature‑controlled environment.
Self‑motivated initiative and limited supervision.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to hire, train, inspire, and develop a team.
Brand ambassador and team builder.
Strong grasp of basic math and problem solving.
