Lead Commissioning Engineer
We’re looking for a
Lead Commissioning Engineer
to take ownership of high‑profile transmission and distribution substation projects from planning through energization. In this senior, hands‑on leadership role, you’ll guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure safe and compliant execution, and play a critical role in bringing essential power infrastructure online.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining
technical depth, field leadership, and client collaboration —and who wants to influence safety, quality, and continuous improvement across projects.
What You’ll Do
Lead commissioning activities for new and existing transmission and distribution substations
Oversee testing and commissioning of power equipment, relaying systems, controls, and communications (electromechanical, solid‑state, and microprocessor‑based)
Review designs, drawings, relay settings, and submittals to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues alongside crews and client teams
Supervise and mentor commissioning engineers, relay technicians, and substation wiremen
Maintain clear, accurate documentation and deliver daily and final project reports
Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors while monitoring scope, cost, and schedule impacts
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
7+ years of progressive engineering or field experience (utility or power industry experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of substation commissioning, protection & controls, and system energization procedures
Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems, and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Willingness to travel and work in a mix of office and field environments
