Job Description KPFF Seattle’s Heavy Civil/Structural Team seeks an experienced Bridge/Structural Engineer with 7+ years of relevant experience. The team handles bridge and heavy‑civil projects including highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, culverts that support fish passage, ferry terminals, piers, wharves, and structural inspections. The role focuses on technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and community impact, and works collaboratively with clients ranging from local agencies to state transportation departments, architects, and contractors.

Duties And Responsibilities

Perform project management tasks, such as monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers.

Lead technical and project discussions with the design team.

Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.

Take responsibility for the quality control/assurance of project deliverables.

Perform structural design, analysis, and prepare design sketches; instruct draftspersons on design drawings.

Perform inspection/field work.

Minimum Qualifications

BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) License

7+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

MSCE or MSE with emphasis in Structural Engineering

Structural Engineer (SE) License

Experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures

Proficiency with CSI Software Suite (SAP, CSI Bridge), PG Super, or similar software

Experience monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers

Strong communicator and collaborator

Self‑motivated, eager to develop and grow as a structural engineer

Ability to work with, mentor, and lead junior engineers

Passionate about providing exceptional client services

Strong technical and organizational abilities

Physical Demands

Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.

Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.

Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.

Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.

Compensation The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is

$115,000 – $200,000 annually . Additionally, we offer performance‑based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions.
