We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Glazier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both residential and commercial glazing, with the ability to manage complex projects, oversee a team, and ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety. This position involves working with glass installations, repairs, and replacements in both residential and commercial settings. The Senior Glazier will provide leadership to junior team members, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Repair:

Install, replace, and repair glass for windows, doors, mirrors, skylights, storefronts, and other commercial or residential structures.

Measure and cut glass to size and shape for custom and standard applications.

Install both framed and unframed glass and mirrors, ensuring proper sealing, alignment, and finishing.

Perform precision glass cutting, sanding, and finishing with attention to detail.

Project Management & Leadership:

Lead and manage a team of junior glaziers and apprentices, ensuring efficient workflow and safety protocols.

Supervise, train, and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and feedback to improve their skills and performance.

Coordinate schedules for both residential and commercial projects, ensuring timely completion of work.

Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to glazing, materials, or installation processes.

Develop Continuous Improvement Initiatives to increase productivity within the team and decrease time spent on specified tasks and duties.

Customer Service and Communication:

Communicate effectively with clients to understand their glass needs and provide expert recommendations.

Provide accurate and timely estimates for glass installation, repair, or replacement services.

Address any customer concerns or questions, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude while working on job sites and interacting with clients.

Experience with mobile application relevant to your job responsibilities or being comfortable using mobile technology to record and report work related functions.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations while handling glass and operating tools.

Ensure that all glass installations and repairs comply with local building codes and safety standards.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and safety harnesses as needed.

Properly dispose of broken glass and other materials in accordance with safety protocols.

Material Handling & Inventory:

Oversee the proper handling, transportation, and storage of glass materials to prevent damage and ensure efficiency.

Work with management to maintain an inventory of supplies and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels for upcoming projects.

Inspect materials upon delivery to ensure quality and accuracy of orders.

Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:

Assess and troubleshoot complex glazing issues, such as structural integrity, design flaws, or weather‑related damage.

Recommend and implement effective solutions to ensure optimal performance and durability of glazing systems.

Experience

At least 5-7 years of professional experience as a glazier, with a strong background in both residential and commercial glazing.

Proven experience leading or supervising a team in the field of glazing services.

In‑depth knowledge of glazing tools, materials, and installation techniques.

Skills

Advanced skills in measuring, cutting, and installing various types of glass (e.g., tempered, laminated, insulated, low‑e, etc.).

Proficient in the use of power tools, hand tools, and other glazing equipment.

Strong understanding of safety protocols and building codes.

Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and decision‑making abilities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with clients, contractors, and team members.

Education/Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Completion of a formal apprenticeship or training program in glazing is preferred.

Certification in glazing (e.g., National Glass Association certification) is a plus.

Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices (preferred).

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 75 lbs) as needed.

Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.

Comfortable working at heights and on ladders or scaffolding.

Working Environment

Work will be performed on residential and commercial job sites.

Outdoor and indoor work, in various weather conditions.

Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including construction zones, and follow all safety protocols.
