Job Summary
Software Project Manager with SaaS/COTS experience for a 12‑month contract role located in Richfield, MN. Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite at Minneapolis‑St. Paul locations.
Compensation $70–$75 per hour (w‑2 only consultants).
Work Description / Deliverables Application Project Manager to lead complex IT projects supporting application programs. Manage software upgrades, system implementations, and infrastructure enhancements. Serve as liaison between client departments and external vendors, driving collaboration and technical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full project lifecycles, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
Apply Agile and Waterfall methodologies to coordinate teams and mitigate risks.
Develop and execute business readiness and change management strategies.
Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies to guide IT investments.
Translate business and technical requirements into actionable plans with stakeholder alignment.
Lead implementations ensuring quality of key deliverables.
Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules, including milestones, tasks, dependencies, and resources.
Identify, track, and resolve risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
Manage scope, schedule, and budget, including impact analysis and communication.
Produce monthly project status reports for leadership.
Develop and execute communication plans to support project transparency and stakeholder engagement.
Provide accurate estimates for IT project components.
Ensure adherence to client IT policies, standards, and processes.
Foster teamwork and collaboration, motivating and guiding the project team.
Ensure all team members and business partners understand their roles and responsibilities.
Coordinate user acceptance testing and ensure business readiness for change.
Collaborate with solution architects to research and recommend solution options.
Mandatory Skills
5+ years of Application Project Management experience, including working with software vendors and implementing purchased systems.
Strong leadership, team building, and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
Excellent planning, prioritization, and multitasking abilities in dynamic environments.
Proven ability to influence and facilitate consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
Effective in solution development, risk mitigation, and execution.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with IT security concepts and their application in project planning.
Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project or equivalent).
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for commuting between job sites and offices.
Desired Skills
Experience managing projects involving purchased solutions (COTS systems).
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PMI‑ACP).
Strong understanding of system application architecture and components.
Experience identifying and documenting system requirements, including testing and validation processes.
Intermediate proficiency in Visio for process mapping and system design.
Experience with professional project management organizations (e.g., PMI, APM).
Work Location & Availability Required onsite on Monday and Tuesday; other days as needed.
