Do you reside in Ventura County? Do you enjoy being out in the field conducting ADA eligibility interviews? We are looking for seasoned candidates as an ADA Eligibility Specialist bilingual in Spanish with a background in special education, social work, medical or other related fields. Training will be provided for our project. Demonstrated experience inthe ADA Eligibility process is preferred.
We offer a competive compensation and benefits package including mileage reimbursement. $26.00-28.00/hour.
THE COMPANY Mobility Management Partners, Inc. (MMP) is a non‑profit agency providing services to various public and private agencies with a mission to improve access to greater transportation options for persons with disabilities, low income or seniors with unmet transportation needs. The services provided by MMP include travel and mobility training, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) eligibility certification, volunteer driver program coordination, informational call center, and brokerage of coordinated transportation services.
POSITION SUMMARY MMP’s Mobility Programs Department is a key component of achieving our mission of improving individuals’ access to greater transportation options. The department provides administrative and call center support for various programs including Travel Training, ADA Eligibility Certification, and an informational Call Center. The ADA Eligibility Specialist position is responsible for evaluating individuals who have applied for ADA eligibility certification, and for making determinations as to their eligibility status. The evaluation often includes conducting both in‑person and virtual interviews and limited functional assessments with applicants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct functional and/or cognitive assessments of individual applicants
Handle in‑person and phone interviews with individual applicants.
Review and assess evaluations and other documents provided by applicant and/or applicant’s physician
Make determinations of ADA eligibility in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and policies
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of determination results and justification for determination decisions
Prepare and maintain ADA eligibility interview schedule, insuring that regulatory and contractual timelines are met
Compile and send program‑related letters, forms, and other communications
Collect and compile program‑related statistical data and prepare reports
Audit program files for neatness, thoroughness and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements
Perform data input to appropriate databases
Develop and maintain appropriate workflow systems
Respond to program‑related inquiries via phone, email, postal mail or fax
Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Minimum high school diploma or GED required, associates/bachelor’s degree highly desirable. 3-4 years’ work experience in a related field such as social work, physical therapy, personal training, recreational therapy. Minimum one (1) year experience working directly with persons with disabilities or the elderly population. Bilingual (fluent) in English and Spanish) Transportation‑related experience desirable but not required.
Bi‑lingual capabilities in Spanish and English required
Knowledge of:
Common challenges faced by persons with disabilities in utilizing public transportation systems
Common challenges faced by seniors in activities involving general mobility and the use of public transportation systems
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and other applicable local, state, and federal laws governing the provision of transportation services to individuals with disabilities
Abilities to:
Conduct Assessments and analyze and prepare reports on the results
Work independently and constructively in a field and office environment
Be punctual and reliable to meet time commitments based on the needs of the projects
Effectively communicate including proficiency in both oral and written forms
Exercise excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
Interact professionally with applicants and the public agencies involved
Utilize computers and software including effective use of MS Office/Outlook
Schedule/maintain an accurate and thorough electronic calendar
Use various internet tools and apps such as Google Maps, Transit apps, Teams, and Remote Desktop
SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, medical documentation, and procedure manuals
Ability to hear and speak effectively in order to clearly communicate with applicants
Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and other employees
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in the use of computers, including Windows 7 and Microsoft Office as well as various other program such as Google Maps satellite and street view, Microsoft teams, Remote Desktop, Zoom.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, good driving record and reliable transportation
Certification in Adult CPR and First Aid (training will be provided)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to talk and hear while interacting with applicants, while on the phone, and with project staff and the community
Ability to visually observe applicants in order to evaluate their physical abilities
Ability to adequately demonstrate mobility skills for applicants during evaluations
Ability to use hands, to finger, handle or feel particularly in the use of a computer
Ability to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds
