**Bilingual Audience Producer & Reporter, Tiempos de San Diego**The Audience Producer & Reporter for Tiempos de Times of San Diego is a digitally savvy journalist who will join the nonprofit news team to run a WhatsApp news and newsletter project geared toward Spanish speakers. Times of San Diego is a nonprofit news organization based in San Diego, California.This role will require a strong understanding of digital audiences and analytics and the ability to report original stories, summarize partner stories, and produce social media and newsletter content. In particular, this producer/reporter will coordinate our efforts in growing a Spanish-speaking audience and digital touchpoints across WhatsApp, Telegram and other social media; newsletters; partners; and beyond.The audience producer/reporter will report, write, aggregate and translate stories in Spanish and create related engaging social media and newsletter content. They will work toward constant iteration and improvement of this project and their reporting.This position is funded by a grant for one year, with the possibility of renewal.Times of San Diego launched in 2014, joined NEWSWELL in 2024 and joined forces with the San Diego Community Newspaper Group earlier this year.**The pay range for this role is** **$24.12 to $24.75 an hour*** Report, write, aggregate and translate San Diego news stories in Spanish.* Create and coordinate Spanish content for WhatsApp and other social media, including written content, photos, videos, graphics and manage our WhatsApp groups.* Write and edit engaging newsletters in Spanish that bolster our journalism and convey our community-driven mission.* Coordinate and edit freelance content in Spanish for newsletters and WhatsApp.* Lead digital and email-based membership and fundraising campaigns in Spanish.* Respond to reader questions on news coverage to explain complex topics, demystify news, debunk misinformation, and drive audience engagement through WhatsApp and other social media.* Track engagement efforts and respond to trends through regular review of metrics.* Work with newsroom leaders to build and optimize workflow, collaboration and training.* Stay current on WhatsApp, newsletter and social media trends; develop strategies to optimize experiences; and experiment with innovative tools and techniques.* Promote events that cultivate relationships with our Spanish-speaking members and readers.* Ensure all content is fact-checked, mobile-friendly, and meet ethical journalism and accessibility standards.* Create an inclusive work environment that values diversity, fosters belonging, empowers others and nourishes a culture that pushes for and celebrates wins* Fully bilingual in English and Spanish and comfortable translating stories.* Strong analytical, data and writing skills, with a keen eye for detail, a commitment to accuracy and solid news judgment.* Ability to multitask and excel under deadline pressure, using time efficiently.* A passion for local news and a commitment to serving the community.* Track record of producing high-quality content for social media, newsletters and digital platforms.* Ability to design visuals using Canva or similar programs.**Relevant qualifications*** Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism or related field related or equivalent combination of education and experience.* One to two years of reporting experience, or experience creating and managing digital, email and social media content.**Preferred skills and abilities** * Spanish fluency, spoken and written* Familiarity with Spanish-speaking communities in San Diego County**Benefits** Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance ASU Enterprise Partners is home to several Centers of Excellence whose purpose is to provide professional services to its affiliates.
