Pre/Post-Op Clinical Nurse – Feinberg PACU (Full‑time, Evening Shift) The salary range for this position is $39.00–$62.40 per hour. Placement within that range depends on experience, internal equity, and union rules. Description The Feinberg Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a high‑acuity unit that cares for complex surgical patients recovering from anesthesia. Nurses provide evidence‑based, comprehensive care and have opportunities for professional development through quality coaching and the LEAD program.

Schedule:

0.9 FTE – three 12‑hour shifts per week (11:00 am–11:30 pm), with weekend, holiday, and on‑call requirements.

Specialty Care:

patients requiring shock‑cardiogenic, cardiogenic, distributive shock, hypovolemic or obstructive shock; pre‑operative care for CABG, transplant, valve, general, trauma, urology, interventional radiology, surgical ablation, organ transplant, abdominal, gastric bypass, neurosurgical, spinal, ENT, plastic, skin grafting, lobectomy, wedge resection, bronchoscopy, vascular, orthopedic, EVD, shunts, BiPap, ventilator, LVAD, electroconvulsive therapy.

Responsibilities

Provide patient‑centered care and develop individualized, culturally sensitive nursing plans.

Advocate for patients, coordinate team care, and promote patient safety.

Participate in evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and research activities.

Deliver safe post‑operative care, including assessment of complications and discharge teaching.

Monitor and manage pre‑anesthetic risk factors and peri‑operative complications.

Maintain professional standards and ethical practice in accordance with the organization’s Code of Ethics.

Contribute to mentorship, preceptorship, and community volunteer initiatives.

Engage in continuous professional growth, education, and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications – Required

Graduate of an NLN‑accredited nursing school.

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.

Registered Professional Nurse license, Illinois.

Current CPR (healthcare provider level) and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.

Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds and push/pull with 50 pounds of force.

Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications – Preferred

Experience in a high‑acuity surgical or critical care environment.

Clinical specialty certification.
