Position Overview The Department of Kinesiology & Health Promotion invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the 2026‑27 academic year.
The successful candidate will lead the development of the Public Health minor, support existing service‑learning programming, expand community collaborations, and strengthen graduate‑level scholarship while exemplifying the Teacher Scholar Model and Cal Poly’s learn‑by‑doing approach.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new courses and modify existing offerings in the Public Health curriculum.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses as outlined in the course list below.
Conduct research, publish scholarly work, and seek external funding.
Engage in service‑learning, community‑engaged learning, and action research.
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.

Minimum Requirements
Doctorate (PhD) in Public Health or a related field (degree conferred by application deadline).
Demonstrated potential for effective undergraduate and graduate teaching in Public Health.
Commitment to teaching, learning, and service in a multicultural environment (evidence in Cover Letter and Teaching Philosophy).
Demonstrated potential for a strong research agenda in Public Health.
Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Commitment to community‑engaged learning, service‑learning, and/or action research.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
Willingness to develop new courses and/or course materials.
Potential to secure external funding.
Experience collaborating with diverse populations.
Conditions of Employment Background checks (including criminal record) must be satisfactorily completed. The position is subject to California State University policies regarding out‑of‑state employment and mandated reporting. The hiring will be contingent upon successful employment verification.
