Product Development / R&D Manager This role is a highly independent position focused on developing and fine‑tuning smoked pork products, with an emphasis on bacon and ham at a well‑established meat processing company with multiple Midwest locations.

Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr

Position Overview The Product Development / R&D Manager will lead hands‑on product development efforts, ensuring product quality, flavor consistency, and customer satisfaction. The role works closely with internal teams and external customers but does not have direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Lead R&D and product development for smoked pork products, primarily bacon and ham.

Fine‑tune flavor profiles to ensure products meet taste and quality standards.

Develop and adjust ingredient formulations and injections for ham and bacon.

Handle product samples and oversee product trials.

Communicate with customers and buyers regarding product specifications and feedback.

Support scheduling related to product development activities as needed.

Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance in all product development processes.

Qualifications

Experience in meat product development, R&D, or food manufacturing (pork experience preferred).

Strong understanding of bacon and ham processing, flavor development, and injections.

Hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach with the ability to work independently.

Strong communication skills for customer and buyer interaction.
