Senior Manager, Software Engineering
Join early warning, a leading payments firm, as we protect and evolve the U.S. financial system. The Senior Manager of Software Engineering oversees one or more engineering groups, delivering product engineering software that serves internal and external customers.
Overall Purpose The role provides oversight to engineering teams, supports design, development, implementation, and delivery of product engineering components, and ensures the team has the right capacity to deliver the product roadmap.
Essential Functions
Build and maintain product engineering components through production.
Provide supervision over costs, methods, and staffing.
Guide technical design and engineering patterns.
Lead automation and enhancement of applications and systems.
Ensure testing policies and procedures are followed.
Participate in employee selection, training, performance management, and development.
Contribute to vision, organization, and leadership of the Engineering team.
Enhance and mature Agile software development lifecycle within the team.
Keep management informed of team progress, problems, and solutions.
Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning initiatives.
Serve as main liaison between Engineering and other departments.
Promote DevOps principles and collaborate with other groups.
Support the company’s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
Manage budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Three or more years of experience in Full Stack development or development management (Java, Spring, AWS Cloud).
Experience with system automation, scripting, Chef, Puppet or similar.
Experience with cloud technologies (VMWare, AWS, or similar).
Experience with automated testing, continuous integration and delivery.
Demonstrated experience with state‑of‑the‑art technology, architecture and design concepts, operating systems, database systems, computer networking, and security.
Experience with open source frameworks and tools.
Proven experience in Agile and DevOps software development philosophy, methodologies, practices, and procedures.
Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional groups and generate results.
Must excel in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities.
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
Ability to envision project goals, product architectural solutions, and focus on details and tasks to ensure successful implementation.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple deadline‑driven projects simultaneously.
Proven prior leadership experience.
Proficiency in leading DevOps teams and their interaction across an organization.
Background and drug screen.
Physical Requirements Normal office environment. Primarily sedentary with periods of extensive computer use. Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Must communicate with internal and/or external customers. Employee must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation Base pay scales vary by location:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL
$175,000 – $225,000 per year;
New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA
$210,000 – $270,000 per year. Candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
