The selected candidate will become a Principal / Sr. Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer on the Infrastructure Design Team (INF). This role supports the design, modeling, and integration efforts for Civil/Structural elements for Sentinel Launch Facilities, or Test Facilities. This role will be located in Roy, UT.

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating civil/structural systems design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.

Subject matter expert supporting the design of high complexity civil/structural systems, including structural steel design drawings, concrete forming, steel structures, and reinforcing design drawings.

Review structural design/selection/engineering for modularized fabrication.

Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.

Participate in project design/model reviews.

Review subcontractors design product quality/accuracy and validate that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.

Support the delivery of Civil/Structural facility design Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.

Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues.

Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.

Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.

Developing and maturing Civil/Structural facility designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with 5 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with 8 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 6 years of experience.

Both Level Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance.

Experience in one or more of the following: Civil/Structural, Mechanical, electrical design on MILCON or major infrastructure/building projects.

Knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and construction specifications.

Knowledge of one or more of the following: American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Building Code (IBC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and MIL-STD codes and standards.

Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.

Experience with Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications, and be able to use the Internet as an information gathering and communications tool.

Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts to both Government and corporate leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

Structural Engineering (SE) License with any state.

Active DoD Secret security clearance with the most recent investigation completed in the last 5 years.

Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00
