Temporary, Exempt, Full‑time. Approx. 9‑week program starting early June 2026.

Location:

San Francisco, CA. Hybrid role; required to work in office or at an onsite event 2 days a week.

Deadline:

Compensation & Benefits:

ALC secured $10,000 for three law clerks. Clerks may supplement with private funding. This position is not eligible for health, retirement, or other benefits.

The Opportunity Asian Law Caucus (ALC) is committed to justice for low‑income, immigrant, and underserved Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Founded in 1972, ALC provides legal services, community empowerment, and policy advocacy across the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

ALC seeks summer law clerks to join a dynamic team. Under attorney supervision, clerks may interview clients, conduct legal research and analysis, fact‑gather and investigate for litigation and advocacy, draft court filings and memoranda, prepare community training and briefing materials, and attend clinics, hearings, and policy meetings.

Law clerks will navigate a range of interconnected social justice issues. Responsibilities vary by team and need.

Desired Programs & Areas

The Democracy and National Initiatives Program (DNI) – election protection, voting rights, birthright citizenship, community partnership, and coalition building.

The Housing Rights Program – defense of low‑income tenants, community education, outreach, and advocacy for housing equity.

The Immigrant Justice Program – intersection of criminal and immigration law, representation of low‑income immigrants facing deportation due to convictions, collaboration with community partners to stop deportations and dismantle systemic injustice.

The Workers Rights Program – direct services, strategic litigation, policy advocacy on wage and hour violations, retaliation, and discrimination; supporting worker organizing.

Desired Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a J.D. program at an accredited law school.

Demonstrated commitment to low‑income, immigrant, and/or API/AMEMSA communities.

Excellent legal research, analysis, written, and oral communication skills.

Language proficiency in an Asian or Middle Eastern language is a plus.

Students with law school clinical experience are encouraged to apply.
