Base pay range
$85,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr Manufacturing Engineer – PCBA (Defense / Space) $85,000 - $125,000 My client is an innovative defense, national security, and space technology organization focused on delivering mission‑critical systems that operate where failure is not an option. Their work supports national security, protects critical assets, and advances technologies from ground to space. Job Summary: We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with strong PCBA expertise to support and scale printed circuit board assembly operations. In this role, you will own PCBA manufacturing processes, from design review through production execution, ensuring quality, efficiency, and repeatability across both automated and hand‑soldered assemblies. Responsibilities: Oversee the PCBA manufacturing process, ensuring high quality, yield, and process efficiency Perform and support reflow soldering and manage workflows for both automated and hand‑soldered assemblies Review PCB designs, components, pad geometry, and layout to optimize manufacturability and assembly yield Implement and maintain solder mask standards to support accurate soldering and component placement Conduct FMEA to identify, assess, and mitigate manufacturing risks Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve process capability Utilize single‑piece flow and visual management to improve production throughput and clarity Provide hands‑on technical support and training to production staff on PCBA processes and soldering techniques Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline), or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience supporting PCBA manufacturing workflows Strong working knowledge of DFMA, FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies Experience with both automated assembly and hand soldering Familiarity with single‑piece flow and visual management systems Ability to communicate effectively across engineering and production teams Seniority level
