This Opportunity WSP is seeking a Full-Time Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Charlotte, NC office. The successful candidate will provide project assistance and guidance on multi‑phase environmental work processes, including site investigation, remediation, corrective action strategies, brownfields redevelopment, environmental permitting, and recommendations to protect air, water, and land resources.

Job Description Responsible for delivering projects that meet or exceed industry standards.

Your Impact

Develop site investigation and remediation strategies for a diverse client base (federal, municipal, commercial, industrial) and regulatory programs (Superfund, Brownfields, Voluntary Cleanup, etc.).

Develop technical scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates based on applicable regulations and client objectives.

Lead multimedia investigations that may include subsurface boring, trenching oversight, groundwater monitoring, well installations, aquifer testing, sampling, and field mapping.

Conduct analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and analytical data obtained during field investigations.

Evaluate remedial performance and direct appropriate O&M and system optimization activities.

Prepare technical reports such as remedial alternative evaluations, feasibility studies, pilot test work plans, remedial design, contractor specifications & bid documents, remedial performance evaluation, and pre‑design investigation.

Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a professional manner.

Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.

Prepare and implement site‑specific QAPPs and HASPs.

Remain current with latest environmental engineering techniques and emerging contaminants of concern.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and policies.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.

5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in environmental engineering.

Engineer in Training Certification.

Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods applied to environmental and project work.

Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

Knowledge of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances and mitigation programs.

Knowledge of techniques used to identify, measure, sample, and study environmental control.

Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.

Capable interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with others and expressing ideas to engineering and non‑engineering audiences.

Effective self‑leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.

Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools.

Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to apply technical knowledge and reach conclusions from testing results, data analysis, and statistical evaluation.

Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.

40‑Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.

Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
