Job Summary A Construction Estimator is needed for a leader in the world of Technical Services and Engineering in the Seattle, WA (hybrid) area. The Senior Construction Estimator requires experience in utility/infrastructure estimating for public agencies, leveraging expertise in construction methods and estimating software to prepare, analyze, and update detailed, accurate cost estimates.
Location and Compensation Location: Seattle, Washington (hybrid). Job type: Contract. Salary: $55–$65 per hour. Work hours: 8am to 5pm. Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed, accurate construction cost estimates (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors).
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and documentation to identify cost factors and risks.
Develop and maintain cost databases, historical data, and estimating tools for efficiency.
Provide cost analysis and value engineering recommendations to optimize budgets and schedules.
Participate in pre-construction meetings, site visits, and client discussions for scope understanding.
Monitor and update estimates throughout the project lifecycle to address changes.
Prepare and present detailed reports and documentation to clients and internal teams.
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and construction methodologies.
Skills
Experience working on public agency projects, preferably in the energy/utilities sector.
Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Timberline, Bluebeam).
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Strong collaboration, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in construction estimating, focused on infrastructure or utility projects.
Qualifications
Experience level: Experienced.
Education: Bachelor’s.
