Executive Director, FP&A – Confidential Search

Location:

Detroit, MI – Full relocation package available

Join our client as an Executive Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, where you will lead strategic financial initiatives that shape the future of a global organization. This highly visible role reports directly to the Americas Regional CFO and offers the opportunity to influence executive decision-making, drive profitability, and optimize financial performance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the annual operating plan, long-range strategic plan, and forecasting processes, delivering actionable insights and analytics.

Drive month-end management reporting, variance analysis, and executive presentations to support data‑driven decisions.

Champion finance transformation initiatives, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Develop and refine financial models and processes to improve accuracy and support strategic decision‑making.

Partner with senior leadership to identify risks, opportunities, and strategies that align with business objectives.

Manage and mentor a high‑performing FP&A team, fostering engagement and professional growth.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA strongly preferred, CPA a plus.

15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience with a proven track record.

Demonstrated experience in industrial manufacturing, automotive, or similar industry, and/or a management consulting background such as McKinsey.

Expertise in global operations and long‑range planning, advanced financial modeling, leading/driving finance or operations transformation projects, cost optimization, footprint strategy, and analytics within a complex matrix organization, international experience or within a global consulting firm.

Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial consolidation and analytical tools, ERP (SAP, HFM, Power BI, or similar).

Collaborative leadership style with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders.
