Job Description The Emergency Response Officer maintains a high-visibility uniformed presence, responds to a variety of emergency situations, conducts vehicle patrols, documents incidents, and ensures the ongoing protection and security of assigned sites.
Responsibilities
Identify and respond to emergencies including acts of violence, crisis events, weapons incidents, explosive incidents, natural disasters, and other hazards, using escalating force protocols up to armed response when necessary.
Conduct surveillance operations.
Secure scenes to prevent further loss or damage, advise personnel of threats, summon emergency responders, and initiate and conduct evacuation procedures.
Render first aid to injured persons and follow established injury reporting protocols.
Safeguard and maintain highly sensitive information.
Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons.
Respond to direction and orders from supervisory personnel, especially during active shooter or assault situations.
Move from location to location at appropriate speeds.
Physically engage with individuals who are threatening others.
Qualifications / Requirements
Must be over the age of 21.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid California driver’s license.
Must possess a current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License issued by the State of California (Guard Card).
Must have successfully completed PC 832 Arrest training (valid certification required).
Must have a valid baton permit.
Must have valid OC and pepper spray permits.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior service in any Military Occupational Specialty or related to law enforcement.
Graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighter field.
In the process of obtaining, or have already obtained, an Associate’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a security or supervisory role.
