Inova Schar Cancer Institute is looking for a dedicated Infusion Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the team. This role will be PRN day shift. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Infusion Advanced Practice Provider Job Responsibilities

Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-up, phone calls, and consults are carefully and completely documented in the electronic medical record.

Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and/or family, construct comprehensive medical histories, perform initial and periodic physical examinations, and explore patient’s interpretation of health needs. Identify and treat patient’s diseases.

Evaluate infusion patients as they receive treatments to include management of infusion-related reactions and acute treatment-related side effects.

Directly perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret finished results.

Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.

Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication.

Identify and record pertinent progress of patients, updating and summarizing charts, change orders when appropriate and notify the responsible physician of changes in the patient’s condition.

Develop and implement long and short-range treatment plans.

Educate/coaches fellow staff members including RNs and clinical technicians.

Additional Requirements

Work schedule:

PRN Day shift, Infusion hours: 7am - 7:30pm.

Education:

For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post‑masters certificate program for nurse practitioners; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Experience:

2 years Advanced Practice Oncology experience preferred.

Certification:

BLS, ACLS.
