General Overview of Role

The Senior Director of Philanthropy – Individual Giving is responsible for developing and executing strategies to grow individual giving at all levels, including annual, major, and planned gifts. This role focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors to deepen engagement and maximize philanthropic support. Working closely with the VP of Philanthropy, the Director will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, implement moves management strategies, and ensure best practices in donor relations. This position also provides direct supervision to two staff members: the Annual Giving Manager and the Database Administration Manager, ensuring alignment of individual giving strategies with data integrity and annual fund goals. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategies to increase individual giving, including annual fund, major gifts, and planned giving. Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects with a focus on cultivating relationships and securing gifts of $5,000–$100,000+. Create personalized engagement plans for high-potential donors using moves management principles. Provide leadership and direct supervision to the Annual Giving Manager and Database Administration Manager, including goal setting, performance evaluation, and professional development. Collaborate with Annual Giving Manager on donor acquisition and retention strategies. Ensure Database Administration Manager maintains accurate donor records and reporting to support fundraising efforts. Partner with VP of Philanthropy to identify and engage board members and volunteers in individual giving efforts. Prepare proposals, gift agreements, and stewardship reports for individual donors. Track and report on individual giving metrics and progress toward goals. Stay informed on trends in individual philanthropy and integrate best practices into strategies. Represent the organization at donor meetings, events, and community activities. Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Liberal Arts, Non-Profit Administration or similar field required. Master’s or JD preferred 7+ years of fundraising experience and a high-level of comprehensive philanthropy Proven success in securing five- and six-figure gifts from individuals Familiarity with planned giving concepts and donor stewardship best practices. Supervisory experience managing fundraising or data-focused staff Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation a plus. Experience with Bloomerang CRM or other constituent/donor management software such as, Blackbaud NXT, Raiser’s Edge, Donor Perfect, etc., (preferred).
