Project Engineer
to be based in Santa Cruz, CA. As a Project Engineer you will provide project engineering and project management services in the field for utilities/mechanical, civil, and structural work related to the construction of the Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit project in Santa Cruz, California.

Responsibilities
Assigned to a field construction organization in a general or single discipline position; assist in overseeing activities of construction crafts/trades within an assigned area of responsibility.
Receive continual supervision and direction while performing assigned responsibilities.
Receive technical and operational direction from the assigned Superintendent or Project Manager.
Assist with the planning and coordination of sub‑contractor activities within the area of responsibility.
Monitor subcontractor personnel to ensure adherence to project plans and promote quality control of all installations.
Review manpower, material, and equipment requirements with others as designated by the supervising superintendent.
Enforce policies, procedures, and related work rules as established by Field Management.
Assist with compliance of safety programs that create a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to OSHA safety and record‑keeping requirements.
Ensure safety standards and requirements are adhered to by crafts/trades, laborers, and others in the assigned operational area, and ensure tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Prepare reports as required and keep supervisors informed of the progress of overall assigned activities.
Under guidance of Superintendent or Project Manager, monitor work performance of subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedules are followed.
Review construction methods, schedules, manning charts, material, and equipment requirements, etc.
Ensure compliance with all internal and external record‑keeping requirements, with emphasis on accurate, properly coded timecards and fully priced material delivery tickets.
Use the current construction management system to perform record‑keeping tasks, including composing daily diaries, maintaining project logs, and retrieving RFIs, submittal logs, and agreements.
Provide assistance to assigned contractors with scheduling issues.
Monitor the project pre‑plan, which includes a CPM schedule, work sequences, manpower utilization, material handling and storage requirements, and equipment use.
When requested, interface with client, architect, and design professionals to ensure compliance to design intent and client satisfaction.
Contribute to building good communications between field management, project management, estimating, procurement, suppliers, vendors, and specialty contractors to ensure construction complies with plans, specifications, and company quality standards, and that the project is completed on time and within budget.
Continuously expand and update professional knowledge and hone training skills to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in heavy civil bridge construction projects.
Understanding of heavy civil construction methods, means, and materials.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
Effective leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work in outdoor and high‑paced field environments.
Additional Information

Benefits Salary range: $123,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience and/or education.
