Senior Data Scientist, Data and Machine Learning, WWPS US Federal
Amazon Web Services (AWS) US Federal Professional Services team works directly with U.S. Intelligence Community agencies to design, build, and implement AI algorithms, including advanced Generative AI solutions, to augment decision‑making while meeting the highest standards for reliability, transparency, and scalability.
In this role you will work closely with customers to deeply understand their data challenges, design tailored solutions, and collaborate across the AWS organization to deliver the right innovation to customers.
Location: Arlington, VA (or as assigned by agency)
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with AI/ML scientists and architects to research, design, develop, and evaluate AI algorithms to address real‑world challenges.
Interact with customers directly to understand business problems, assist in implementation of AI solutions, deliver briefings and deep‑dive sessions, and guide customers on production adoption.
Create and deliver best‑practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations tailored to technical, business, and executive stakeholders.
Provide customer and market feedback to Product and Engineering teams to help define product direction.
Travel locally up to 25% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent.
5+ years of experience building models for business applications.
Experience with algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high‑performance computing, neural deep learning methods, and/or machine learning.
Experience using Python and hands‑on experience building models with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, MXNet).
Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters or Ph.D. degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or a highly quantitative field.
AWS experience preferred, with proficiency in a range of AWS services (e.g., SageMaker, Bedrock, EC2, ECS, EKS, OpenSearch).
Practical experience solving complex problems in an applied environment.
Hands‑on experience building models with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
Experience building applications leveraging Generative AI.

The base salary range for this position is:
Colorado: $159,200 – $215,300 annually
National: $143,300 – $247,600 annually
