About the Role Airswift is seeking a
Director of Engineering
to provide visionary leadership for the engineering team. This pivotal leadership role strengthens engineering oversight, drives innovation, and positions the function for scalability. The Director will manage technical teams across multiple disciplines, partner directly with executive leadership, and serve as a primary customer-facing technical leader. This position is based in the Grand Prairie, Texas area and reports directly to the CEO
Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Provide visionary leadership for the engineering team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement, positioning the engineering function for scalability.
Manage and mentor engineering teams, service technicians, project managers, and parts support/sales teams to ensure operational excellence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of projects and customer satisfaction.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on strategy, progress, and adjustments.
Technical Engineering & Project Execution
Lead design and integration of advanced engineering solutions meeting regulatory, structural, and aesthetic requirements
Oversee scheduling for installations and repair requests
Utilize CAD and design software for high-level system planning
Ensure compliance with safety, durability, and environmental standards
Create comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and product data.
Customer Relations & Business Development
Partner closely with Sales to support revenue growth through joint customer meetings and solution development
Serve as primary customer-facing technical leader building strong relationships, and solving complex technical challenges.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and customers
Support full-line integration projects from concept to commissioning
Innovation & Industry Engagement
Stay current on sustainability trends, emerging technologies, and vendor innovations, driving initiatives that position the organization as technology-forward and sustainability-conscious.
Represent the company at industry conferences and technology forums to stay ahead of trends and bring back insights.
Drive initiatives positioning the organization as technology-forward and sustainability-conscious
Travel for customer sites, vendor meetings, industry events to support projects and maintain relationships.
Qualifications Essential Skills & Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Proven experience in full-line integration of production systems
Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing engineering and service teams
Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers to solve complex technical challenges
Solid commercial acumen with strong attention to detail and negotiation skills
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with packaging equipment and related technologies
Working knowledge of electrical systems and automation
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for machine shop redesigns and markups
Enthusiastic about emerging technologies, including AI and Machine Learning applications
