Engineer to join our team.
The
Position
Engineer will contribute to the design and analysis of fast reactors, working closely with cross‑functional teams to advance our vision of clean, reliable, affordable nuclear energy.
Responsibilities
Be aware of and familiar with fast reactor core design and analysis work being performed internationally, as well as related benchmark calculations and experiments.
Provide technical feedback to quick‑iterating design teams.
Document work using modern tools and techniques, and write well‑written, thoughtful technical reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear engineering, with experience in reactor design and analysis (Masters or PhD preferred).
Fluency with Python.
Experience with modern object‑oriented languages, preferably C++.
Proficiency with high performance computing systems.
Experience with fast reactor design and analysis is highly recommended.
Proficiency with MCNP and SERPENT is highly recommended.
Proficiency with DIF3D, REBUS, or similar deterministic codes is recommended.
Preferred Skills and Traits
Passionate about clean energy and advanced fission.
Willing and able to learn quickly.
Highly skilled with Monte Carlo neutronics tools such as MCNP, SERPENT, and Open‑MC.
Skilled with deterministic fast reactor tools, or willing and eager to learn.
Eager to work on a dynamic team, receive constructive feedback, and grow with us.
Willing to think differently and do things in new ways.
Comfortable in a fast‑paced, highly iterative startup environment.
Excited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving, while not leaning only on what has been done before.
Willing to propose novel and creative solutions to technical problems.
Excellent writing skills; can write in modern active voice.
Able to communicate technical content and results verbally.
Travel Requirements Remote employees are required to travel to headquarters (Santa Clara, CA) twice a quarter annually for team meetings, off‑sites, and other company events or gatherings.

About Oklo Inc. Oklo Inc. is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale; establishing a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes; and advancing nuclear fuel recycling to convert nuclear waste into clean energy. Oklo was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant, was awarded fuel material from Idaho National Laboratory, and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Oklo is also developing advanced fuel recycling technologies in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. national laboratories.
