Director of Youth Education and Family Engagement
Full-Time Position
Ohev Shalom of Bucks County seeks a dynamic, organized, and relationship-centered Jewish educator to lead our Religious School (PreK–10th Grade) and guide youth and family engagement. The Director is responsible for curriculum oversight, staff supervision, program management, and building meaningful connections with students, families, clergy, staff, and lay leaders. This role is the primary staff liaison to the Education Chair, PTO Chairs, and Young Family Chair, and collaborates closely with the Rabbi, Cantor, and Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership:
Develop and implement curriculum; select materials; support high-quality teaching; communicate goals to teachers and families.
School Management:
Oversee all aspects of the Religious School; ensure safety and smooth operations; build the yearly calendar; be present for school sessions, family programs, and class services.
Staff Supervision:
Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate teachers, madrichim, and support staff; provide professional development; collaborate with the Inclusion Facilitator.
Student & Family Support:
Foster a positive, inclusive environment; guide behavior expectations; coordinate progress tracking; communicate promptly and thoughtfully with families.
Youth & Family Engagement:
Oversee youth programming and youth group engagement, services on Shabbat and High Holy Days for families and children, family learning, holiday events, young-family programming, and trips; create warm, community-building experiences.
Clergy & Staff Collaboration:
Partner with Rabbi, Cantor, and senior staff on tefillah, holiday programs, and family engagement initiatives.
Lay Leader Partnership:
Work closely with the PTO, Education Committee, Youth Chair, Youth Family Chair, and other volunteer leaders. Collaborate and coordinate with other groups within the synagogue as needed and maintain partnerships between the school and the rest of the community.
B-Mitzvah Coordination:
Manage communication, materials, and logistics for B-Mitzvah preparation.
Qualifications
Advanced Degree Preferred.
Background in Jewish Education or related field; leadership experience preferred.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Experience supervising staff and working collaboratively with clergy and lay leaders.
Commitment to joyful, inclusive Jewish learning and community building.
Salary $60,000-$70,000
